Area Information, Javea, Costa Blanca, Spain
Javea is an exclusive town situated around one hour north of Alicante and one hour south of Valencia on the Costa Blanca of Spain. Both these cities have excellent flights from the UK and the journey from either centre is easy. The A7 motorway from either city takes you to within about 15 minutes of Javea. For more information on Valencia, see Valencia Travel Guide.
Javea has no high rise buildings and has the reputation of having available for rental some of the best holiday villas and apartments on the Costa Blanca.
Our holiday villa in Spain is situated in the exclusive Balcon al Mar area of Javea very close to the Cap de la Nau lighthouse. The villa is about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Javea. If you don't want to drive there is a regular bus service.
There are several pebble or sand beaches close to the villa where you can enjoy great swimming, snorkelling or scuba diving. There are superb coastal walks or you can just relax by the pool. This is a popular golfing area with a course in Javea, the new golf development at La Sella less than 30 minutes away and, of course, Benidorm. In the evening there are several restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of the villa or you can enjoy an unrivalled choice of Spanish or International cuisine in and around Javea. An ideal choice for your holiday on the Costa Blanca.
Javea is a town of three parts. The Old Town with its maze of narrow streets, pavement cafes, old Spanish apartments and bustling market is still very much Spain as it used to be. Visitors can spend days here exploring the history and culture of this fascinating town. East of the old town is the famous Arenal beach with its great expanse of golden sand. Adjacent to the beach is the "Avenida del Mediterraneo". This long promenade has a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants and in the evenings the local craftsmen set up their stalls. During the day the area plays host to the sun worshippers at night it plays host to the diners and partygoers. Right at the end of the Arenal is the old Port of Javea. Still an active fishing port the area also has a large marina. The port area is famous for its many restaurants and tapas bars and your only problem will be choosing which ones to visit during your holiday!
If you fancy a bit of excitement there are boats and jet skis available for rental on the Arenal. If you wish to travel further and do not have a rental car for the duration of your holiday there are several car rental companies close by. Bike rental is also available.
For those wishing to travel further afield the towns of Calpe, Denia, Altea and the basket making town of Gato de Burgos are well worth a visit as is the historic centre of Valencia. Inland there is much to be seen in the Jalon Valley and further afield the town of the ancient monastery at Guadalest.
The many attractions of Benidorm including the water parks, Terra-Mitica theme park and nightlife are just 40 minutes drive away. There is a daily ferry service from nearby Denia to Ibiza.
